Desirée Brazelton, CCH, RSHom(NA)
Owner & Classical Homeopath
As a small child, I was very ill. My allergies and asthma called for frequent visits to the doctor and the emergency room. While never needing to be hospitalized, I had to take care to not run too much, pet the cat or eat the wrong foods and I ALWAYS had to have my inhaler with me. Into my late teens, I received weekly allergy shots and frequent visits to the allergist. With this history, I was very familiar with doctors and had always been drawn to a healing profession.
The path to my calling didn’t become clear until my first pregnancy. I had planned a natural birth and wanted to continue to care for my daughter without medication as much as possible. This search for an alternative led me to seek out the care of Eric Sommerman, PhD, CCH, RSHom (NA). Eric was a homeopathic practitioner who also happened to be dean at the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy.
It didn’t take more than a few visits with Eric and I was hooked. I knew that homeopathy was what I was called to do so I enrolled in school at NAH.
I have been a patient, student and practitioner of homeopathy for many years and love the flexibility, fluidity and strength of this healing art. In my own practice, I enjoy working with patients who are dedicated to their own healing journey and are seeking a profound healing experience. I work with adults who have chronic illness, cancer, depression, anger issues, migraines and fibromyalgia. I work with children who have chronic ear infections, respiratory issues, emotional outbursts and allergies. One of the things that I love most about my practice is my ability to spend time with my patients – truly listening and being present for their highest good.
I am a mother of three daughters and throughout my own parenting journey I’ve had people ask me to teach parenting classes. For a long time I didn’t know what it was that I was doing that was any different. When I found the Conscious Parenting movement, I could finally put a name to my parenting style. There is so much healing that happens when parents become conscious in their parenting relationship. Conscious Parenting is a gift that I love sharing with the world.
I am a graduate of the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, a graduate of the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy and the Hoffman Process. I am a member of the Minnesota Homeopathic Association, the North American Society of Homeopaths and the National Center for Homeopathy. I have been on the board of the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy and am now a proving assistant there.
One of my favorite pastimes is disconnecting from the world and heading out with my pack on the Superior Hiking Trail with my four favorite people – my husband, Paul, and our three daughters.
